TOPIC: Lasting Value Gratification

TOMAS: Good afternoon, friends, this is Tomas. Greetings to those of you here and those in the far reaches of time and space that observe and/or participate in our dealings here in this architectural sphere of co-creation where we meet. It is good to be back in my comfortable arm chair, as your instructor in residence, my arm sprawled across the back of my chair so as to ponder in comfort the concerns of humanity and yours as they relate to our work here for the Master.

We touched last month on the word "significance" and you considered the significance of this gathering to you. And uppermost is our appreciation that it remains the fundamental reason for your "belonging" with this "community" is for the moral and actual support you receive in your personal growth. That remains our primary function and goal as well for when you are at your best, you deliver your best for your environment, the greater community, and even on into universe reality. We have spent the better part of our association studying those values and meanings that you carry with you as products of your civilization and your environment -- which ones are useful and which ones are obstructions to the goal of the ages.

It is also of note that your overall commonality, as a group with a various mix of component parts, all felt some strong affinity for the political arena and how we enjoyed the subsequent action brought about as a result of your combined desires to minister to your world through the party you held in order for your friends and neighbors to testify to their desire to abet the furtherance of light and life. This gives us opportunity to extend our teachings into the realm of the arena in which you live with greater specificity.

And it is always a comfort to all of us and all of you to fall back on that great state of being that allows the child of the universe to rejoice in its childlikeness, in full faith that the Universal Father and his myriad agencies will uphold the universe wherein all things are unfolding as they should. It is a joy to observe evolution taking place before our very eyes and to see how you have been a part of it. To do so is to not only bear witness to your contribution to the Supreme, but to behold the processional of life passing by and the pageant of life in full force.

Today I will spend a moment of time with you regarding that force within you that would engage itself on doing His will with specificity -- understanding now that in the universal sense, you are contributing to the greater good and personally by your experiential consciousness of consciousness. Basically this means we will discuss life as you live it in the world in which you live it as an arena. Sociologically supposing you are able to impact your world, how would you opt to impact it? At your party you had some engaging discussion and made a list of many things that you feel drawn to support or are interested in seeing come about in the next administration, in the next few years, as you approach light and life, what goals you might set and how this administration might act as a stepping-off point for launching the adventure into a new paradigm of social consciousness, how you might let go of some of the traditions and habits of yesteryear to make way for new vessels in which to put new wine.

And so we are in a position of recognizing our place in the system … not the system as you understand it through your temporal government, but as you are perceived in the global sense as citizens of the universe. This enables you to maintain that triune loyalty to the personal perspective and the universal perspective while functioning within the socio-political-economic arena those values and meanings which you would like to see fostered, furthered and made a part of your global reality.

We can talk about this at length and at other times. It is a topic that will always interest those of you who seek to do something in the world as a member of the world, as an independent operator -- independent, responsible citizen -- for if you walk in balance, you will experience no conflict between the two. Let me back off and open the floor to your perspectives.

Elena: Well, I'm really glad to hear you're talking about bringing more specificity as to how we can be more global and be more effective in applying ourselves to be responsible citizens, and frankly I would really appreciate some guidance on that. On the one hand, it says that, okay, open ourselves to God's will and then that we're co-creators, and I don't know. To me, it just seems that, with our communication with you, I would just really appreciate some guidance on how to apply ourselves and to our energies.

TOMAS: To what?

Elena: Well, there's the deal. I don't actually know what to do in order to make the globe, the world a better place. I'm kind of floundering on that and yes, there was a party and I'm deciding what my role in that is, so, am I the organizer here and is that what I should be doing and getting more people involved and educated in the social and political process? I don't know.

TOMAS: Let me suggest that as you facilitate those values which you hold dear, you will stimulate and inspire others similarly uphold and endorse that which they hold dear. They need not all support the same values that you do in order for you to be effective. If you consider your peers to be also leaders, and approach them as leaders, they will more readily assume the role of a leader. And I have to say that leadership is an on-going course in behavior modification for a good leader is also following the same principles he or she espouses for others. This way you have gained allies through empathy, even though your various causes may be distinctly different.

By keeping alive the notion that you are a significant contributor to universe reality, and you associate with similarly intelligent and co-creative people, you foster the reality you hope to bring about. You cultivate self-acting, intelligent citizens of the world in which you want to live. Civilization is a true accomplishment for those who know the joys of evolved civilization; those who have no idea what it means to be civilized, will not find value in your position. It therefore behooves you to cultivate and civilize those with whom you have dealings. Encouraging civility is something you can all do and it is one of those things that is effective in your immediate environment, in your long-distance environment, and in the global environment -- not to diminish the universe itself.

And so again, we talk about values -- what you must do is keep alive your notions of advancement; having regard for your world, your civilization, your institutions and your relationships within those institutions as well as with those who similarly enjoy the positive effects of those avenues of industry, philosophy, finance, education, economics and so forth.

Isolation is probably the worst culprit; even though it is or seems the contemporary mode to keep ones thoughts to ones' self, this is a form of mental frugality, similar to financial frugality; when money serves by being spent, thoughts serve by being expressed. It doesn't take long to find out which thoughts have value and which are flimsy. That which is flimsy will fall away as dust while that which has substance will be passed around and reformulated by the thoughts of others until such time as it becomes a meaningful principle worth upholding and believing in -- not just for you but for all those who contributed to its evolution.

The bigger challenge these days almost seems to be how to keep at bay those social paradigms which have carried you but which no longer serve.

Elena: How do we do that? TOMAS: Well, first you have to identify what they are. Elena: Right.

TOMAS: And once you identify what the problem is, then you can approach it as yet another opportunity to turn it to fluff so that the better concept can be cultivated, and thus it is a process, a process in which you take part, and how you take part best might be simply to THINK and then EXPRESS what you think, for this is a good time now -- in the evolution of your country, your world, your society, you, your friends and all -- to contemplate value … as you quiver on the brink of new possibilities and new realities, knowing now that you can help create the tomorrow that you seek to have. If it does not feed into your values of tomorrow, then it is something that does not need to be cultivated.

It really is simple. It is doing what you like to do, and not doing what you don't enjoy. Even if you are the only one who enjoys your reality, you are at least noble enough to be true to your reality. Perhaps your reality is the greater reality, and perhaps eventually they will all come around to the way you do, or at least evaluating your perspective as something worth hearing, something which contributes to the solution, the resolution, the healing, or the triumph, and that is all anyone should seek to attain: the ability to contribute meaningfully to your life and the lives of others, for this is surely living in His will.

As you live in His will in this manner, you begin to find your place and move according to the dictates of Deity rather than the dictates of humanity. And as more and more of humanity learn to listen to the dictates of the Divine through their own personal cosmic path through life, the more of you then are operating in synchronization.

Elena: Doing what you like …

TOMAS: Naturally there are those who do what they like and it is entirely self-serving, but that will not endure forever. You have a right to ignore that which does not serve as others have a right to ignore you. This is how it is that so much can be going on all at once, in fact throughout the whole universe, and it continues -- the collisions being a part of the process.

Elena: Well, I guess my question is to what extent one should feel personally responsible unless you want to leave that to God's will. Where does one stop and where should one keep going?

TOMAS: If you know who you are, you will have those answers. I don't mean to be glib, but you seem to be looking for a job description or a qualifier there that will help you know to what extent you should invest yourself in those things that you feel need your attention, as if there were a checklist or a formula for success. If you are talking about energy levels or time limitations, those are something you need to figure out for yourself. If it is about that quality of value that has an unlimited supply, then you need not worry; you will not run out.

Chances are that if you manage your body, your immediate environment -- which is to say is your body, your mind, your thoughts, your emotions, even your home -- by then you will have a fairly good foundation for ascertaining how far you can reach beyond that fundamental responsibility of maintenance. If you have your foundation established, you can reach into any and all service fields you have time and energy for -- or finances, I should say, also, for some service fields cost money to contribute to, so you have to "count the cost" yourself of being His apostle and determine how much you can give without it being a hardship for your own sense of well-being, remembering that God does not require you to sacrifice or to self-abnegate. You are allowed to enjoy your life.

Indeed if you enjoy your life as much as I do, you will approach each new day with a sense of anticipation of worthy challenges, experiences, opportunities, delights, surprises, even though some days are a disappointment or more painful than I had hoped. Still the good outweighs the bad, the love outshines the lack of love, and the progress is always two steps forward one step back and not the other way around, so be of good cheer in your undertaking and think on what it is that you do that gives you lasting value gratification. That will suffice. Perhaps we should call our meeting to a close.

Elena: Well, it's good to have you back, Tomas.

TOMAS: It is good to be back. I have had some mysterious experiences, I admit. I have gone some strange places and some familiar places. I have worked with some marvelous people and morontia beings, as well, and had some exotic exposures to one thing or another, yet it seems my best function at this time is to stay put and serve where I am planted which, for now, is right back where I started from in this forum of teaching.

I look forward to our next gathering. Give my best to all our friends. Farewell.
