*Elyon (Jonathan TR): Good morning, Elyon once again with you. I enjoy your presence. I relish every comment, as it is as cherished by me as the comments of any offspring are cherished by parents who derive pleasure in witnessing the unfoldment of their offspring.

Today I will continue our series of growth, hope, and fear by discussing gain. It is natural in the human impulse the desire to grow. It begins physically at your conception and continues on the levels of mind and spirit as you mature while on this planet and will carry over into the morontia realms and beyond. Growth is natural, nearly automatic, though it can be detained or accelerated by the use of will. There are promoters and inhibitors, as we have pointed out with hope or fear and the reactions taken when those feelings are encountered. In the desire to grow there is the potential for the feeling of frustration when the desire is not balanced by patience, and this is why I have chosen to speak about gain. I will divide it two ways: first, the approach of gain would be as in that of accumulation, for instance, the gain of wealth or bodily weight. Any accumulating, mass enlarging, type of gain is the kind of gain often projected toward growth. It is natural for the human soul to wish for the gain that is embodied in Christ Michael or an angel or one of our fine Melchizedek. This desire, that gain sought, is part of the long haul. It will be attained, but it will -- perhaps unlike bodily weight -- be more difficult to acquire. This you may hope for, strive for, but the gain I wish for you to focus upon in the short term, in the present, is more the gain of amplitude, like that of your volume control.

I have not been reticent in my praise of your efforts and in acknowledging your accomplishments and your adherence to the lessons with faithfulness and duty, knowing that you do gain from them, but the gain I speak of today is that of acceptance, recognizing your current attainment and merely turning up the volume. In other words, you can be assured of divine support when you a little more loudly, a little more brightly, simply reveal the spirit that you have come to recognize and to be at this point in your upward ascent. Using radio as my analogy, the signal received is not different no matter what volume level you choose. You still have the program that you have tuned to. Prior to fusion you will experience the frustration that your radio does not pick up the divine frequency as clearly as you would like. But you are able to increase the gain of that received signal of your Thought Adjuster by manifesting in your actions that which you have received and making it obvious, not so much obvious to your fellows, though this will occur, but obvious before your own eyes, before your own witness that you are indeed receiving and applying what you are encountering, be it through stillness, through our expressions in lessons, and through the many human experiences of your daily lives. Gain in this manner assures you of your current status, of your capabilities, your preparedness.

It is spoken of the "faint flicker of faith"; it is spoken of the "still, small voice", and you have pondered and extracted meaning from these phrases. I point to you today to also notice your present abilities; if it is difficult to perceive, turn up your volume so you can recognize a little more notably what you have. Be not concerned if it a poor signal. You have the signal, and you are able to discern, and through it you can express.

Michael on earth was fully aware that his apostles were not absolutely ready to begin their public ministry. That did not deter him from going forward. When he sent them out two by two that, in effect, turned up their gain. They had demonstrated in those experiences the proof that they had accomplished significantly many things that were as yet unrecognized. You will naturally over the course of time, because of your diligence and dedication to spiritual truth and the Father's will, gain through accumulation. Every step along the way you can turn up your volume, amplify your current talents and skills, shout it from the mountain tops, so to speak, burn more brightly. Light that lampstand on the hilltop for all to see, though it be a simple candle. This gain creates the momentum for the gain of accumulated growth.

I have finished my lesson. I am willing to dialogue with you if you have questions to present.

Jada: You talk of gain and turning up the signal. It reminds me of a feedback loop where you increase the signal, purify the signal, by acting upon it.

*Elyon: This is a good comment, for a weak signal, when heard, may leave doubt as to the accuracy of what the reception was. In the instance of a radio program the proper message heard when the gain is turned up, though it is still full of static and difficult of discernment, the volume does bring across what is conveyable, and you are more certain of having heard and understand even with the absent information or data. The feedback loop is self-amplifying. By demonstrating your accomplishments in your life you self-amplify your growth, stimulating an even higher demonstration and encouraging an increased hunger for greater signal receptivity.

Evelyn: I see a similar pattern with last week's fear of the known and the unknown, and the lesson on the faith that clings and the faith that reaches out. The amplitude gain is the known, making the most of what you already have; like with faith, clinging to what's there. Accumulation is like the unknown, the venturing forth, what's around the next bend.

*Elyon: Keen observation on your part. I compliment you in your discernment. This is a pattern we are endeavoring to present to you in these lessons. It will be helpful to all to actively discern the difference when facing a dilemma, for if you can take inventory of your known and recognize the unknown you will more clearly and mindfully be able to address the issue and to apply your resources to either resolution, if it is a conflict, or progress if it is a hoped for ideal of being.

*Machiventa: I am Machiventa. Greetings to each of you within a discernible distance of my approach to you in this manner through this medium of transmission. I am making my rounds as I am favorably inclined toward doing to visit all the students who are in this university of preparedness for planetary action. I know the words sound grand, but it is the small deeds of every one of you who are the uplifters of this planet. We are keenly interested in your welfare and are ever present for support

Our reach from what you know as a celestial realm becomes faint when it is discerned by physically encased, budding spiritual beings as yourselves. You are our volume controls. You are the amplification of the spiritual luminosity that enshrouds this world every time you are bold and stand to be recognized, not of self, but of the reality of spirit; that being manifested in goodness and beauty and truth. I have witnessed you all progressing for many years now. My report card of you all speaks of you favorably and acknowledges your efforts. A morontia report card does not simply grade you upon your accomplishments. It also lists what is in need of attaining. These are not rebukes or marks of failure; they are those aspirations, the very things you will rejoice in accomplishing in the next term of education. I recognize these too, and the lesson plans are being discussed in committee, and you will receive what we have to offer as the mission continues.

I thank you for your dedication and your support. Until I meet with you again, farewell.

*Elyon: This is Elyon returning to you. I would release you from the classroom today, as the silence is deafening, and allow you to be about the Father's business as we are all wont to do. Farewell.
